Nothing much to do

Cool demo but really not much to do, wouldn't mind seeing the full one when it's done though, but you should have bigger platforms and wider hitspace for landing on the main character, I found myself falling down when I was close to half way on a platform making me believe you used shape flag on the bottom middle of the character, you should use two points slightly to each side, less frustrating for the player.

Can't wait for the full thing though looks like it would be good.

I tweaked the coding regarding how she touches the ground. Hoping it addresses the technical problems you picked up.

Reasonable Game

This game was alright I suppose for a quick one. I think my inability to play games well may have hindered my opinion so I have you an 8 even though I wanted to give you a 7 ;).

Anyway graphics were neat, I just wasn't so sure about some aspects of the coding. I felt the hitTests of the good guys and bad guys were too large, I think a few times pitchforks flew under my feet and I got injured anyway. Also I felt that the character was a little slow on the movement causing me to get frustrated when I got hit even though I was moving away from danger as quick as possible.

Some things to fix would be in the menu, I dislike how you must roll over the buttons to see what they are, additionally I didn't even understand what the yellow power up was doing for me.

On the plus side I really liked how simple, straight forward and quick the instructions were, points for that.

Anyway, good game guys, graphics were neat, game play was basic but not too bad. Keep up the good work.

Graeme responds:

Thanks for the sort of "benefit of the doubt" extra point. Haha.

As for dodging. It takes a few tries to get used to predicting enemies.
Meteors fall faster then you can, so dodge to the sides.
Pitchforks fly faster than you, so dodge up and down.
All strategy my friend ;)

I suppose the menu thing is true. Good suggestion. I'll avoid that in other projects.
And I took care to make the most straight forward Tutorial I could. From my own experiance it is far less distracting, and makes it easier to get into the game.

Nice job man.

I like the game Rudy. The art is very nice, however the gameplay could be improved a little. Maybe say if you actually had to catch the tacos in the hat instead of just hit them and maybe a bit more speed.

The game was just kind of really easy, also I don't see why you put a score limit on but I guess without it it would have just gone forever.

So maybe if it was a bit of a more difficult game with no limit to score then it would be awesome, obviously it was made in a short time period and your AS ran out on you so good job. Loved the music.

Well done.

Rudy responds:

Thanks. Really. I did lack in the time department, and after playing the game the first time, it was EXTREMELY easy. I maybe should edit it and make it a bit harder, but I could really care less at the moment. As long as it's not broken or anything, I'm good. I'll see what I can do with it in the future though.

Maybe, I'll have an exclusive version on my site with difficulty levels, if I have time later on. I'll see what happens.

Thanks for your review, I appreciate it alot.

I really like this but it has room for improvement

This game is pretty cool but some aspects you could improve on would be adding in a mute button, music got annoying, making the balls worth points because well you could get the same score by just avoiding all balls rather than trying to get the ones a the same colour as yours. I also didn't see the need for the key controlled version the mouse one was cooler looking and heaps easier. The Orange and green colours can begin to look similar the more you play, especially on an LCD so maybe change one of them to a different colour. One last thing is it lags a bit when more balls are added and continues to get worse the more balls there are.

Those points aside this is a really cool game, I liked it a lot. Well done.

Lebastic responds:

First of all thanks for the detailed review, I appreciate it.
Well, Elastic mode was rather easy, so maybe I wold give players a challenge by playing the other.
And I agree for the fact that you only needed to avoid the balls, but if you deleted some wouldn't it be easier?

I'm really glad you liked the game, I loved your Retro Collab as well XD

At long last.

I've been waiting a long long time to see a game from you, I am somewhat of a secret fan of yours, I love to see your game engines and such posted on the bbs and some of your codes.

The game itself I thought was good fun and played it for quite awhile although it isn't really designed in a way to reach large audiences, not many will enjoy the slow paced physic related theme to the game although I thought it was quite fun.

The fact that you had those little notes in between levels I thought was cool and enjoyed, although I don't think many would think much of that either, however it was very you.

Overall I think the game had a particularly excellent engine although as far as game design and attraction to a widespread audience goes I don't know that it went so well. Either congratulations on the release of your first game and now perhaps you will start to look more into game design rather than actual coding, more playability should be your next step. Good piece none the less.

Also I was surprised that Mr. Every possible detail must be correct would make the crazy mistake of having single bodies of water leveling off at different heights. Surely you would know that one body of water's top will all level out at exactly the same height all over :P.
(I guess rules need to be bent to make a game interesting=D).

Good Work

dELtaluca responds:

thanks, as for you mr every possible detail.

i DID actually before starting this game, when working on a similar engine, i actually had all water being a soft body aswell, so that when the player's soft body moved through it, the water responded to the movement, so that when you crash into it it caused waves to explode out left and right, when moving near the surface you could alter the surface shape, and when throwing yourself out it caused waves to form aswell

but clearly it didn't run fast enough :p

Great Game...

Pity it's not yours!!! This is the third time in the last two days, the other two were flagged what makes you think this one wont be. Seriously, I dont think you even have flash. Stop posing you faggot and taking other peoples credit.

Retard-1990 responds:

Ha Ha very funny its mine you need proof! i'll email it you. if you want

Nice little piece

This is quite good for a first try at actionscripting. May I just suggest one thing to you though. With the main character you need to add an extra movieclip for it's base position so that you can only hittest with the snakes when it touches them at the same level. The problem is you have made, with you graphics, the illusion that the charater is closer to the screen. So the bad guy shouldnt hit it from further behind.

TrashMachine responds:

If you watch, Bot Bot's movieclip can be on top of a snake without it hitting. He can, in fact, drive "beside" a snake with no damage.

These are alright

But make say one more and stop there because there is definately a sense of this getting kinda old.

LuckyLollipopLad responds:

I'll keep going until I get this series to where I want it to end.

They'll keep getting better. And if you're getting tired of them, maybe don't bother playing #4 if you see it after judgement?

I would've liked to know your score, but thanks for the review.

Be funky!
